Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. Jacqueline's parents are Malaysian as well as from Sri Lanka. Their father Elroy Fernandez comes from Sri Lanka. Jacqueline is the oldest of two siblings and a younger sibling. Because of the turmoil in the country, her parents relocated to Bahrain in the early 1980s. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after graduating from Bahrain. To enhance her interest in the world of languages, cultures and languages, she joined the Berlitz schools of languages where she was able to master Spanish as well as improve French and Arabic. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, Padukone began working in the world of television. She hosted the television show Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone was born to tennis star Prakash Padukone. She was born in Bangalore and born in Copenhagen. In her teens she competed in badminton at National level competitions. She later resigned her profession in sports to pursue a career as a model. Padukone's native language is Konkani. She is Mangalorean in her origins. Padukone Village is located within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi Distric of Karnataka in India. Prakash Padukone is her father and a former badminton star who has international acclaim. Her mother is an agent for travel.
